World Summit for Children (Novice)
Committee devoted to issues concerning the well-being and development of children across the globe.
Committee size: 40 Double Delegations
Committee Topics
-
Topic I: Poverty and War in Africa:
In the 1990s, Africa faced a period significant turmoil due to wars and genocides, including the Moxabican Civil Wae, Rwandan genocide, and Congo Wars. Children bore the most detrimental effects of these violences, leading to insufficient access to healthcare and basic necessities, creating high child mortality rates. The issue continues to persist around Africa, as children are still deprived of essential needs. Delegates are tasked with easing the detrimental effects of poverty and war by facilitating vaccine research, deploying troops, and enforcing restrictions on child military involvement.
-
Topic 2: Education Crisis
Many underdeveloped nations specifically in East Asia, South Asia, the Pacific and Sub-Saharan Africa face significant challenges regarding universal primary education. Despite progress, many schools face issues such as inadequate resources, undertrained teachers, overcrowded classrooms, and gender inequality, causing many children to drop out before completing primary school. Impoverished families and young girls face greater obstacles in their pain to gain access to education. Such circumstances can be seen in the Pacific Islands, Afghanistan and Bangladesh as these countries include limited education access, gender based barriers, and insufficient resources. Delegates must consider reforms to ensure equal access and quality education for all, while also focusing on resource allocation, gender inequality and education prioritization in developing nations.
