HUAC was created in 1938 amidst the United State’s “Red Scare” to conduct investigations of disloyalties and communism, especially within federal agencies.

Ethan Roerink
Ethan Roerink is a junior at Maggie Walker. This year is his third year participating in GSMUN; two years ago he served as the vice chair for the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee, and last year he served as the co-chair for the World Trade Organization. Outside of Model UN, Ethan is a member of the Maggie Walker Economics and Investment Club, Spanish Club, FBLA Club, and several honor societies. Ethan is also on the Maggie Walker Golf Team and enjoys researching finance, volunteering, tutoring, and teaching younger children how to play golf. Ethan looks forward to meeting all of the delegates and is excited to help run this committee!

Sriram Panchagnula
Sriram Panchagnula, a junior at Maggie Walker, is honored to serve as a co-chair for the HUAC Crisis Committee at GSMUN. This year marks his third year participating in Model UN at Maggie Walker and is his second time chairing a committee at this conference. In addition to Model UN, Sriram is an active participant in several activities, including robotics, tutoring, and serving as a member in organizations like honor societies, USAYPT, TSA and more. Sriram has also played basketball for their school team and plans to play varsity the following year. He is also pursuing a passion for quantum computing and engineering, aiming to publish a paper under a mentor. Sriram is thrilled to bring his enthusiasm and chairing skills to the HUAC Committee and is excited to see the innovative solutions delegates will develop!
