The Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space explores the frontier of space exploration and promotes cooperation and responsible utilization of space resources. The committee also focuses on advancing scientific technology and implementing sustainable frameworks for further exploration and protection of the unknown.

Committee Chairs

  • Shivank Murthy

    Shivank is a sophomore at Maggie Walker, honored to serve as a co-chair for COPUOS. He has been involved in Model UN since seventh grade and previously served as a crisis staffer in GSMUN XXVI. Aside from Model UN, Shivank is an avid member of the Programming Club and Economics and Investment Club. In his free time, he thoroughly enjoys playing the Saxophone in the school’s Jazz Band, watching basketball, and running cross-country

  • Saket Samabarju

    Saket Sambaraju, a junior at Maggie Walker, is thrilled to serve as co-chair for COPUOS. He has been involved in Model UN since eighth grade and previously served as a vice chair at GSMUN. Aside from Model UN, Saket is involved in chess club and part of the tennis team in MLWGS. In his free time, he enjoys playing ping pong, coding, and spending time with friends. Saket looks forward to meeting all the delegates this March!
